About this trip
Humantay Lake Day Tour
Discover the ethereal beauty of Humantay Lake, a natural marvel perched 4,200 meters above sea level in the heart of the Peruvian Andes. Known as a "sacred head" by local communities, this glacial jewel is more than just a destination it is a revered deity and a highlight of the legendary Salkantay Trek.
The lake’s signature feature is its mesmerizing turquoise water, a vibrant hue created by the pristine meltwater of the Humantay and Salkantay peaks. Surrounded by jagged glaciers and crisp mountain air, the landscape offers a sensory experience unlike any other.
During your visit, you can take part in an ancient Andean tradition: building an apacheta. By stacking stones into a small pyramid, you offer a heartfelt "thank you" to Pachamama (Mother Earth) for a safe journey. This sacred act of reciprocity is believed to bring protection and good fortune, adding a deep spiritual connection to your high-altitude adventure.
